About Serenity Funeral Services
Serenity Funeral Services is managed by Gareth “Gary” Hilton. Gary grew up in Arlington County, Virginia. He graduated from Yorktown Sr. High School and then entered military service with the United States Army. After airborne school, he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Upon leaving active duty, he joined the active Guard/Reserve, serving in the Persian Gulf War and retiring at the rank of Sergeant Major.
Gary started his funeral service career soon after leaving active duty. He is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. Gary worked for the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. He was a long time member of the department Honor Guard and participated in many high profile funerals. His fire department work schedule allowed him to continue working in funeral service. He returned to funeral service full time after retiring at the rank of Lieutenant with 23 years of service.
Gary had been asked by many friends and associates to provide funeral service for their families. After joining ranks with like minded, educated, and experienced funeral directors, they formed Serenity Funeral Services in order to offer complete service with fair pricing to the consumer. Gary has a life long history of serving his country, his county, his fellow veterans, and now his community.
